Time to dust off the Fedoras and get those whips cracking because Indy’s back and just as (if not more) popular than last time. Oh, and did I mention that he’s now on DS and in LEGO.
Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is another title from Lucas Arts (the creators of the LEGO! Star Wars games) and will appeal to the lovers of those games and people who’ve never played before. The game follows the events of the three original movies, hence the title. The Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade are all rolled into this game, so really you are getting three games for the price of one.
Starting off with The Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana and his team journey off to the depths of the South American jungle searching for the Lost Temple of the Chipuayan warriors, which he then searches to find the Golden Idol. One by one in the form of a comedic cut scene, members are lost until finally only Indy and the traitorous Satipo are left. At this point you take over and begin to play. After you have found the Idol and successfully out run that memorable boulder then the story unravels as in the movies.
Love them or hate them you can play as the key characters of the movies; Henry Walton (Indiana) Jones junior, Henry Walton Jones senior, Marion Ravenwood, Wan Li (Short Round), Mola Ram, Wilhelmina Scott, Major Arnold Toht, Satipo and The Grail Knight who is only available on the Nintendo DS Version.
There are lots and lots of unlockables. As you complete levels you unlock more of the 60 characters you can unlock to play as. When you unlock these you can use their body parts to create a unique custom character for use in free roam mode only.
The DS features are well utilised in this game by standing next to torches and blowing into the microphone you can extinguish them. The touch screen is used in moving objects such as Indy’s whip, Shovels and more to swing, climb and dig. My personal favourite is blowing into the microphone to inflate rubber rafts!
Listed in order below are the six levels of each movie.
Raiders of The Lost Ark
Lost Temple
Gunfight at The Raven
Cairo Street Fight
The Well Of Souls
Rescue The Ark
Opening of The Ark
Temple Of Doom
Shanghai Showdown
Rapids

All in all I think this game is a great game for gamers of all ages although some younger kids may get frustrated with some missions. The surroundings are true to the movies and nearly everything can be broken for treasure (even the grasses). I would recommend this game to fans of the movies and newcomers alike. So why are you still at the computer? Go out and buy this game now Okey Dokey Mr Jones.
